Spring
It sometimes seems as though Cornwall was created with spring
in mind. The mild climate means that spring starts early,
bringing an abundance of daffodils and crocuses. With spring
lambs in the meadows and hedges bursting with primroses, it
is a truly delightful place to be.
Cornwall’s gardens come into their own at this time
of year and there are many stunning examples like those at
Lanhydrock, Pencarrow and Trelissick and the sub-tropical
slopes of Trebah and Glendurgan on the Helford River.
The coastal path is another area of natural splendour at
this time of year; stone hedges adorned with plants and flowers
like thrift and sea campion and some species not found elsewhere
due to the county’s unique ecosystems.
In many places, the year’s calendar of events comes
to life with May day festivities and this is true of Padstow,
where the ‘Obby ‘Oss celebration casts out the
winter and welcomes the warmer weather.
