Autumn
As summer winds down into autumn and the pace of life relaxes
even more, Cornwall takes on its golden colours once again
and the hedgerows grow heavy with berries. Again, the mildness
of the climate means that walking and cycling are still very
enjoyable and there is still so much to see.
Country houses and gardens are wonderful to wander through
at this time of year and there is the additional pleasure
of the smell of the first log fires burning wherever you go.
Far from ‘battening down’ at the end of the season,
Cornwall merely changes tack. Although there is evidence of
preparations for the onset of winter, the celebrations continue
and the atmosphere remains. Events like the Falmouth Oyster
Festival in October are immensely popular and although perhaps
sunbathing or water skiing might not be at the top of your
to-do list, you will certainly be able to enjoy a quiet break.
